Outside The Therapy Room
Episode 14 - Social Media & Our Mental Health with Tonya Beattie
Social media has its pros, such as a great space to connect with family and friends, learn new things like tutorials, catch up on our favourite celebs and feeling seen and validating by some content. But it can also be a space where bullying happens, we disconnect with things in real life, can become addicting, and we can be consuming information that can be heavy and/or harmful to us.
Tonya joins us to talk about why social media is such a big deal in our lives, how to set boundaries and model boundaries to teens around us, and the harmful impacts of mental health speak in social media.
We get real about the psychoeducational information and how its impacted us, as well as our own ways of connecting through social media - after all, that is how Ivonne met Tonya (thanks Instagram!).
